Investing in the health of your skin is an investment in your overall health and well-being. But taking care of your skin shouldn’t come at the expense of your health or the planet’s.

Let us help you achieve and maintain healthy, vibrant skin and get the right protection and care that makes you feel good.

IMPORTANCE OF SKIN HEALTH

Skin is the largest organ of our body. The skin is made up of three main layers: epidermis, dermis, and subcutis. Our skin is a good indicator of our general health and plays an important role in protecting us from external factors such as the sun’s harmful rays, pollution, and bacteria.

Sun exposure can have a significant impact on the health of our skin. While the sun provides us with essential vitamin D, too much UV exposure can lead to premature aging, skin damage, and even skin cancer. That’s why it’s important to take steps to protect our skin from harmful UV rays.

By applying sunscreen regularly, we can significantly reduce the risk of sunburn and other forms of skin damage.

Besides using sunscreen, there are other steps we can take to protect our skin from sun damage. Wearing protective clothing such as hats and long-sleeved shirts can help block harmful UV rays. And avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours (usually between 10am and 2pm) can also help reduce the risk of sun damage.

Take action today and start taking steps to protect your skin!

By following these simple steps, you can help protect your skin and keep it looking and feeling its best. So take the time to take care of your skin, and you’ll have healthy, beautiful skin for years to come.

SKIN TYPE

Each skin type has specific characteristics that make it more susceptible to certain types of damage and reactions. Explore the unique needs of different skin types and how best to protect them from sun damage by using the right products.

What is your skin type?

Regular Skin

Normal skin is considered the most balanced of all skin types. It has a good balance of oil and moisture so it is not prone to breakouts or dryness. However, even though normal skin has a good balance, it still needs proper protection when exposed to the sun. If exposed to UV rays without sunscreen, normal skin can still experience sunburn and long-term sun damage such as premature aging and increased risk of skin cancer. Therefore, it is important to use sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 every day, even when the weather is cloudy.

Dry skin

Dry skin lacks natural oils and moisture, making it prone to flaking, roughness and itchiness. If exposed to the sun without adequate protection, dry skin can become even drier as the UV rays strip away what little moisture is present in the epidermal layer of the skin. This can cause redness, irritation and flaking. To prevent this from happening, it is recommended to use a moisturizing sunscreen with at least SPF 30.

Oily skin

Oily skin tends to produce more sebum than normal or dry skin, making it more prone to acne and clogged pores. If oily skin is exposed to the sun without adequate protection, it can become even more oily as the heat triggers excess sebum production. This can lead to more acne and blackheads. Using a lightweight, non-comedogenic sunscreen with at least SPF 30 can help prevent this problem while protecting against harmful UV rays.

Combination Skin

Combination skin is characterized by the presence of oily areas (usually in the T-zone) and dry areas (usually around the cheeks). Depending on which areas are exposed to the sun without adequate protection will determine how the combination skin reacts. If oily areas are exposed without sunscreen, they may become more oily, while dry areas will become drier if not properly hydrated with moisturizer. It is best for combination skin to use a mild non-comedogenic sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 and moisturize dry areas before applying sunscreen.

What about Sensitive and Mature Skin?

Sensitive skin and hyper-allergic skin need extra gentle protection as they can easily react negatively to certain chemicals in sunscreen or after-sun products. Your first choice should always be a sunscreen that is 100% natural and mineral-based, as they are less likely to cause irritation than chemical-based sunscreens. Avoid fragrances and other potential irritants in your products.

Mature skin loses its elasticity and tends to become thinner and smoother over time, making it more likely to develop fine lines and wrinkles due to UV exposure. Look for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with antioxidants such as vitamin C or E, which can help protect against free radical damage and boost collagen production. After sun products with peptides or retinol can also help boost collagen production and minimize fine lines and wrinkles.

"Sun protection doesn't need to be complicated - it needs to be consistent."

Leather Colors & Tanning Tips

Similar to skin types, we all have different skin tones, and each reacts differently to the sun. It’s important to remember that no matter what your skin tone, you deserve to feel confident and protected from the sun. Whether you’re prone to sunburn or hyperpigmentation, there are steps you can take to protect your skin and keep it healthy. By using sunscreen and taking care of your skin after sun exposure, you can enjoy the warmth and beauty of the sun without worrying about damage.
So, figure out your needs, enjoy the sunshine, and take care of yourself at the same time!

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

It doesn’t matter if it’s rainy, cloudy or sunny – UV rays have a damaging effect on your skin 365 days a year.
Regular check-ups with a dermatologist are essential to catch any changes in the skin early on, even if you are diligent about sun protection. After sun exposure, our skin needs a little extra care.
Use a hydrating lotion to restore moisture, and apply a cooling gel with aloe vera or cucumber to soothe sunburn and inflammation and prevent sun-induced skin aging.

Taking care of your skin after sun exposure is just as important as protecting it from harmful UV rays.
