HAWAII ACT 104 REEF COMPLIANT

All of our sunscreen products are Hawaii Act 104 Reef Compliant, which means they are free of Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, two ingredients identified in the research that led to the new regulations. However, there are no universally accepted testing protocols for the terms “Reef Friendly” or “Reef Safe”, and none of these terms are regulated or clearly defined. Therefore, no one can claim with certainty what is truly safe for coral reefs.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

The term “coral reef friendly” is not yet regulated. Therefore, it is not always a reliable indicator of a product’s safety for marine life. To ensure that you are using ocean-friendly and reef-safe products, check the “active ingredients” label on the back of the product to ensure it does not contain harmful chemicals.
